STATESBORO— Georgia Southern volleyball (21-6, 10-4 SBC) received a bid to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship, the committee announced on Sunday night. GS intends to accept the bid.
This will mark the Eagles' second-straight NIVC appearance after last season's run to the Great Eight, during which the team took down Winthrop and East Carolina before falling to USF at home in the third round.
Led by All-Conference First Team member
Reagan Barth and second team members
Kirsten Barrett and
Ashlyn Lovett, the Eagles took down South Alabama in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Tournament before bowing out to South Alabama in the semifinals.
The Eagles have recorded back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since 2012 and 2013 and have recorded double-digit Sun Belt wins for the first time in program history.
Georgia Southern will host the first two rounds of the tournament - hosting a pod of Northern Colorado, App State and Southeast Missouri State. All NIVC games will be televised on ESPN+ with the Eagles taking on SEMO Friday at 6:00 p.m.
