ATLANTA - Georgia Southern men's tennis took No. 18 Texas A&M to four third sets in singles, but the Aggies eventually prevailed with a 6-1 win over the Eagles on Thursday afternoon at the Byars Tennis Complex in Atlanta.

The Eagles (0-4) met the Aggies (2-0) for the first time in program history in a neutral site match played on the campus of Georgia Tech. Texas A&M swept all three doubles matches to collect the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead.

Georgia Southern and Texas A&M split the first sets of singles play, each team winning three. After the Aggies notched a straight-set win at No. 6 singles, Pol del Castillo got the Eagles on the board with a 7-6, 6-0 win over Togan Tokac at No. 2 singles.

The four remaining singles matches all went to three sets, but Texas A&M won all four for the final 6-1 margin.

"Congrats to Texas A&M and thank you to Georgia Tech for allowing us to play this match at their facility today," Georgia Southern head men's tennis coach Andrew Goodwin said. "Our guys are getting better, our guys are getting tougher and our guys are getting tighter as a team. I love our fight and can't wait for us to get back to work."

Georgia Southern returns to action on Wednesday, January 31, traveling to Macon to take on Mercer in a 3 p.m. matchup.
