PREVIEW: No. 1 Comes to Town as Eagles Host Marshall

STATESBORO - For the third time in program history, the Georgia Southern men's soccer team will play against the top-ranked team in the land. No. 1 Marshall travels down to Statesboro to take on the Blue and White on Sunday, Oct. 1, with kick-off scheduled for 7 p.m. at Eagle Field.

The Eagles hosted the top-ranked team in 2002, when No. 1 Wake Forest came to Statesboro. 16 years later, the Eagles traveled to Winston-Salem, N.C., to take on the No. 1 Demon Deacons. While the Eagles fell in both matches, the defense only conceded two goals in 2018.

Marshall comes in with a perfect 9-0-0 record and a 2-0 mark in conference. Last time out, Marshall needed a 78' goal to defeat the VCU Rams, 1-0, on the road. Georgia Southern comes in with a 1-3-5 record, 0-0-2 in SBC play, and riding a four-match draw streak, taking a draw from UAB, 1-1, its last time out.

The Eagles are 1-30-2 all-time against nationally ranked teams, earning its second tie ever against a ranked program last week against No. 2 West Virginia.

Admission is free to Eagle Field for the contest, and all contests.
