STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern men's soccer team fought with the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on Friday night at Eagle Field, but neither team could find a game-winner, leave the match in a 0-0 draw for both teams.
Coastal Carolina (2-3-1) came out as the aggressor early in the match, taking five shots to the Eagles' (1-3-2) one in the first 45 minutes of play. The aggressive play also gave CCU eight fouls in the first half to Georgia Southern's five, and allowed the Eagles to compile two saves to the Chants' zero.
The script flipped in the second half, with Georgia Southern coming out aggressive with six shots to CCU's three, ending the night with a 8-7 ratio in favor of CCU, but with four shots on targets for the Eagles compared to the Chants' two. The Eagles took four corner kicks on the night to CCU's three, and Georgia Southern only has 12 fouls to Coastal Carolina's 16, but did end with two cautions on
AJ Pama and
Edward Mensah.
The tie against CCU also ends an 11-match losing skid in Sun Belt play.Â
