STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to the Jacksonville Dolphins at home on Tuesday night. Georgia Southern falls to 1-3-1 on the season and 0-2 in the four-match homestand.
Jacksonville (2-4-0) only needed less than three minutes before they would score the game's only goal, when a long ball on the left side of the box was struck and scored in the bottom right corner of the net to give the Dolphins the 1-0 lead. The Eagles took eight shots to JU's two in the first half and had some chances and tough breaks, but neither team pushed anything across through the rest of the half.
Georgia Southern would tally seven more shots in the second half for a total of 15 shots on the night, including six shots on target, but could not get one to fall as the Eagles remained scoreless on the night. Both sides had five corner kicks during the contest and the Dolphins out-fouled the Eagles by a 9-7 mark.
