STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern men's soccer team will travel to Fort Myers, Fla., to take on the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles on Friday night at Pickering Field at the FGCU Soccer Complex. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
Georgia Southern and FGCU have met three times so far in the short history of the series, with FGCU winning all three meetings so far. This will be the second time the two meet in Fort Myers, with the first match coming 2019.
FGCU has started the season with a 0-1-1 record after a season-opening loss on the road to Sun Belt opponent and second-ranked Kentucky. Afterwards, the Eagles ended a match with the Northern Kentucky Norse with an 1-1 tie. This will be the first game at home for FGCU.
Georgia Southern comes into the match with a 1-1-0 record, dropping the season opener 0-1 against ETSU on the road, but returning home and shutting down a UNC Asheville team who scored three goals against Navy, 2-0. It was the first clean sheet for
Nate Martinez in his career.

After this match, GS will host four-straight home matches, including the Sun Belt opener, facing  North Florida (9/8), Jacksonville (9/12), Coastal Carolina (9/15, SBC Opener), and Mercer (9/19) before taking to the road to face West Virginia.
