Georgia Southern caps the regular season by playing in the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate at Mimosa Hills Golf Club in Morganton, North Carolina. The Eagles are the defending champions of the event after shooting a 2-under 286 in the final round for their first win of the season last year.
Abby Newton placed third and Mia Kness finished eighth. Georgia Southern led the field with 53 birdies and ranked first in par-4 and par-5 scoring.
The event serves as a homecoming for Georgia Southern second-year coach Mimi Burke, who earned her bachelor's degree from Appalachian State in 2013. Burke was a four-year letterwinner for the Mountaineers from 2009-13 and posted the 10th-best stroke average in school history.
The Eagles are paired with Western Carolina and Elonfor the first two rounds and tee off holes 1-3 in a 9 a.m. shotgun start Monday.
Following the weekend, GS competes in the Sun Belt Championship at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida, April 16-18.
