Eagles Fall on Senior Day, 4-3

STATESBORO - A late and furious rally in the final set at Court 5 was not enough for the Eagles to overcome the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns on Senior Day, with the Eagles falling 4-3 in the final home match of the season.
Louisiana (12-9, 5-3 SBC) would strike first and take a 1-0 lead over the Eagles (15-7, 4-4 SBC) by taking the doubles point. While Judson Blair and Pierre Mouesca struck first at the No. 3 position and won 6-1, Louisiana would take the matches at the No. 2 and No. 1 positions to take the doubles point over the Eagles.
In singles play, Louisiana took a 2-0 lead with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at the No. 6 position, but Georgia Southern began to rally with a victory by Pol del Castillo Masich at the No. 1 position, 6-2, 6-4. Dimitris Paliouras tied up the match with a 6-1, 7-5 victory at the No. 4 position, and Pierre Mouesca gave Georgia Southern its first lead of the day with a big 6-3, 7-6 victory at the No. 3 position. The Cajuns began to fight back with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 victory at the No. 2 position. The No. 5 position was a battle to the end, but the Cajuns pulled away late for the 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 victory to take the match from the Eagles, 4-3.

Georgia Southern will be the No. 5 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. The Eagles will have a rematch with Troy on Thursday, April 20, at 2:00 PM ET. The bracket is attached below.
