Mouesca is the first Eagle to earn conference POTW since 2019
STATESBORO - Pierre Mouesca earned Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week honors on Wednesday, March 8. This weekly honor is voted on by coaches around the league each week.
Mouesca earned SBC POTW honors after posting a perfect 3-0 week in singles competition and a 1-0 record in doubles competition. Mouesca helped guide the Eagles to a win over North Florida for the first time since 2008 with his 6-3, 6-3 victory at the No. 3 position. Mouesca also helped the Eagles end the week with two straight sweeps, one over Mercer, where he won 6-3, 6-3 again at the No. 3 position, and one over UAB, where he won 7-5, 6-1 at the No. 3 position, as well as posting a 6-1 win at the No. 3 doubles position with partner Judson Blair. Mouesca is undefeated during the Eagles current seven-match win streak.
This is the first player of the week honor for the Eagles since 2019, when Stefano Di Aloy last won the POTW honor.
The Eagles will be back in action with two road contests this weekend, first against Charlotte on March 11, then against Queens on March 12. Those matches are set for 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
