Box Score HARRISONBURG, Va. - James Madison limited the Eagles to three hits and scored seven runs over the final two innings to collect a 9-0 win in five innings over visiting Georgia Southern on Sunday.
The Dukes (20-7, 5-1 SBC) completed the three-game Sun Belt sweep over the Eagles (11-17, 1-5 SBC) in the first meeting between the two schools as league rivals.
James Madison plated two runs in the bottom of the first inning - the first time all weekend the Dukes scored first - then added three runs in the third on a play where Reed Butler singled with two on, driving in a pair, then coming all the way around to home on an errant throw to second base.
The Dukes then scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth.
The Eagles tried to extend the game in the top of the fifth as
Kinley Stewart drew a leadoff walk and
Courtney Ball singled to put runners at first and second with one out. One batter later, Fatih Barth singled to left, but Stewart was thrown out at the plate trying to score to end the game.
Kylah Berry (8-0) picked up the win for the Dukes, giving up three hits in five innings of work, walking four and striking out three.
Alana Barnard (1-2) took the loss for the Eagles, giving up seven hits and five runs - four earned - in three innings of work, walking one and striking out one.
