NORFOLK, Va. - The 69th-ranked Georgia Southern men's tennis team fell for the first time in ten matches to the 71st-ranked Old Dominion Monarchs in a road conference match on Sunday morning.
Action started in the doubles matches where ODU (11-8, 3-1 SBC) quickly picked up the 1-0 lead, taking the No. 1 and No. 2 positions with 6-0 and 6-2 victories to clinch the early lead. The third court went unfinished, but the Eagles (13-4, 2-1 SBC) were down 4-3.
In singles, Georgia Southern tied up the match with a win at the No. 6 position by
Alexandros Roumpis, taking down his opponent 6-3, 6-0. The Monrachs would take the next two points at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions but the Eagles continued to fight back, with
Dimitris Paliouras taking down his opponent at the No. 4 position with a 6-2, 6-1 victory. The Monarchs clinched the match with a victory at the No. 3 position, 7-5, 6-1, to give the Eagles its first loss in ten matches.

Georgia Southern will continue conference play by hosting Coastal Carolina at the Wallis Tennis Center. First serve is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 1.
