STATESBORO - Georgia Southern women's tennis collected its second straight Sun Belt Conference win with Saturday's 7-0 victory over visiting Texas State at the Wallis Tennis Center.

The Eagles improve to 11-3 overall and 2-1 in the Sun Belt with the victory, while Texas State falls to 4-9 overall and 0-4 in the Sun Belt. Georgia Southern returns to action on Sunday, hosting Louisiana in a 10 a.m. contest at Wallis.

Georgia Southern notched the doubles point with wins at the top two spots. Liv Ryan and Silvia Martinez downed Kate Malazonia and Mae McCutcheon, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles, while Sonja Keranen and Ana Tsitavets delivered a 6-2 win over Jadeh Chan and Andrea Pineda at No. 2 doubles.

The Eagles then notched straight set wins at all six spots to clinch the victory.

"The wind was a thing today," Georgia Southern Head Women's Tennis Coach Sean McCaffrey said. "We did a good job of acclimating and adapting to the wind on all the courts. No. 1 double was phenomenal. I think Liv and Silvia did amazing, setting the tone early and providing a little scoreboard pressure, which helped us pick up No. 2 doubles with Sonja and Ana.

"Singles, just seeing a whole lot of matches at 6-0 or 6-2 in the first sets and getting them in 20-25 minutes is a real benefit for everyone else. Overall it was a really good start to the weekend. Now we'll rest a bit and prepare for Louisiana tomorrow."
