STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern men's tennis team will take on three different opponents over the next several days, hosting the North Florida Ospreys on March 2, the Mercer Bears on Saturday, March 4, and the UAB Blazers on Sunday, March 5. These matches are set for 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 10 a.m., respectively, from the Wallis Tennis Center.
NORTH FLORIDA OUTLOOK: UNF carries a 4-2 record into Statesboro and is coming off of a 7-0 sweep over the College of Charleston Courgars in Jacksonville, Fla. The Ospreys are led by both Rodrigo Crespo and Jonas Hartenstien, who both hold 5-1 overall records.
NORTH FLORIDA SERIES: Georgia Southern holds a 9-13 record all-time against the Ospreys and has dropped the previous seven matches to UNF. The two previously met in Jacksonville where the Ospreys came away with a very narrow 4-3 win.
MERCER OUTLOOK: The Bears come to Statesboro with a 6-6 record, and at the time of writing, are currently competing against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks in Jacksonville, Ala. Mercer is led by Marceau Foulihoux, who holds a 8-2 overall record so far this season.
MERCER SERIES: The Eagles own a 26-4 all-time record over Mercer and are winners of the previous three match ups between the two. The last time the two met was in 2021, where GS won in Macon, Ga., 5-2.
UAB OUTLOOK: UAB holds a 7-3 record at the time of writing, but is scheduled to take on Georgia State in Birmingham, Ala., on Friday, March 3. UAB is led by Michal Lusovsky, who holds a 8-1 overall record this season.
UAB SERIES: Georgia Southern is 6-3 all-time against the Blazers, and defeated UAB on the road last season, 6-1. Prior to the 2022 season, the two schools had not faced off since 2016.
