The Georgia Southern women's tennis team is back on the court! All throughout the season, we'll give you a closer look at the team with our 5 Questions segment. Our next student-athlete is junior Silvia Martinez!

Silvia joined Georgia Southern last year as a transfer from Ball State and made an immediate impact on the Eagles' squad, going 13-6 in singles during the Spring and earning All-Sun Belt Conference First Team singles honors. A native of Barcelona, Spain, all 13 of Silvia's singles wins last year came in straight sets. She is currently majoring in political science at Georgia Southern!

1) Why did you choose Georgia Southern to continue your tennis career and pursue your master's degree?

I came to Georgia Southern because, after transferring, I wanted to go to a place where I knew I would be happy and enjoy my college experience. After talking to different coaches, I saw Georgia Southern was the best place to come because of my connection to the team and the connection I felt with coach!

2) What's one thing that people don't know about you?

One thing people don't know about me is that I have a perfume addiction! At home I have like 15 different perfumes. 

3) If you weren't playing tennis, what other sport do you think you might be playing right now, either professionally or in college?

If I wasn't playing tennis, I would probably be swimming. I used to swim and play tennis at the same time, until I decided I wanted to only focus on tennis.

4) In a movie about your life, what actress would play you?

In a movie about my life, Natalie Portman would play me. I love her!

5) Do you have a phrase, saying or song that helps you get through a particularly tough day?

When I have a tough day, I listen to the song rock + roll by EDEN.
