Addy Burrow (Williamson, Ga.) has been selected to compete in air rifle. The 2023 NCAA Rifle Championships to be held on March 10-11 at James A. Rhodes Arena and hosted by Akron University in Ohio.
The air rifle portion of the championships will take place on Saturday, March 11. Burrow is one of seven individual qualifiers in air rifle due to three shooters qualifying in both disciplines, and she will be joined by Angeline Henry (Memphis), Parker Haydin (Navy), Marleigh Duncan (Navy), Ben Salas (NC State), Elysa Walter (North Georgia) and Gabriela Zych (Memphis). Each of the eight teams that qualified will also have their individuals compete.
"Today was a great day and we couldn't be happier for Addy," head coach
Soren Butler said. "She's been one of the best shooters in the country all year and I'm really happy she'll get to represent GS at NCAAs."
Burrow has been one of the top air rifle shooters in the country this season with a 594.385 average and her 595 at last weekend's NCAA Qualifier at the Shooting Sports Education Center sealed her trip Akron. This season, she has finished first in air rifle at eight of the 13 NCAA events she's participated in and her season average is ranked 17th in the NCAA heading into postseason.
She becomes the second Georgia Southern student-athlete to qualify for the NCAA air rifle. Rosemary Kramer qualified in 2019 and finished third in the country en route to All-America honors.
The Eagles were not selected to compete in the NCAA Championships as a team. They'll next be in action March 4 and 5, participating in the Southern Conference Championships at The Citadel.
