STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern swim team has added five new swimmers for the 2024-25 season, head coach
Allyson Sweeney announced on Thursday. These swimmers all joined Eagle Nation as a part of National Signing Day and will begin their careers at Georgia Southern in Fall 2024.
ANNA CESARIO
Anna Cesario joins Eagle Nation from Cumming, Ga., where she was a four-year All-State athlete for Forsyth Central High School. While swimming for the Bulldogs, she also earned All-County honors for Forsyth County all four years and was a four-year letterwinner at FCHS. Cesario also holds school records for the 500 Free at North Forsyth High School and was a part of the relay team that holds the 400 Freestyle Relay record at FCHS. Cesario earned an academic letter her junior year of high school. She also competed for the Dynamo Swim Club while in high school.
FINA HICKMON
Fina Hickmon comes to Statesboro from Naples, Fla., where she was a 2022 State Finalist for Naples High School. Hickman also was named a 2022 All Area First-Team competitor by the Naples Daily News and won the 2022-23 District Championship. So far this season, Hickman has posted times of 24.19 in the 50 Free, 52.71 in the 100 Free, and 1:55.92 in the 200 Free. She also was part of the relay group that owns the record for 400 Freestyle Relay at NHS. Academically, Hickmon is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honors Society, has earned the Global Seal of Biliteracy, and currently holds a 4.1 weighted GPA. Hickmon swims with T2 Aquatics as well, where she has earned a Silver Medal and has been named a USA Swimming Sectionals and Futures Qualifier.
VICTORIA KJAERULFF
Victoria Kjaerulff joins Eagle Nation from Canton, Ga., where she was a Second Team All-State honoree in 2022-23 for Creekview High School. Kjaerulff also earned First Team All-County honors every year she competed for Grizzlies. She is a four-time letterwinner at CHS and owns the school record for the 500 Free, as well as being part of the relay team that owns the CHS record for the 400 Free Relay and the 200 Medley Relay. Kjaerulff also competes for Swim Atlanta.
SARAH LUSKUS
Sarah Luskus signs with the Eagles from West Forsyth High School in Cumming, Ga., where she was named a Second Team All-State competitor in 2022 by the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Luskus was a four-year letterwinner for the Wolverines and holds the WFHS record for Women's 500 Yard Freestyle, as well as being part of the 200 Yard Medley Relay, 200 Yard Free Relay, and 400 Yard Free Relay records at WFHS. Luskus has also earned academic honors, including being named a Scholar Athlete all four years of school, earning academic letters for her first three years of high school, and being awarded the University of Georgia Certificate of Merit. She also competed with Swim Atlanta in club swimming.
ALEX POPE
Alex Pope signs with the Eagles from St. Petersburg, Fla., where she was a 2022 FHSAA 3A State Champion Runner-Up at St. Petersburg High School. Pope lettered in swim for all four years of her high school career and won several championships with SPHS, including the 2023 City Championship, 2023 Pinellas County Aquatic Championship, and 2023 FHSAA 3A District 7 and Region 3 Championships. Pope holds the SPHS records for 50 Free (23:79) and 100 Fly (57.55). She also swam for the St. Petersburg Aquatics club team where she was ranked fifth in the 2023-24 SCY Florida Swimming rankings.
