STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern men's soccer team will head to Norfolk, Va., to take on the Old Dominion Monarchs in a Sun Belt Conference match on Sunday, Oct. 22, with the match slated to begin at 6 p.m.
Georgia Southern brings a 1-7-6 overall record and an 0-3-3 Sun Belt record into the match after battling to a draw against the South Carolina Gamecocks on Wednesday, Oct. 18. The six draws represent the most in a single season for the Eagles. ODU is 5-3-5 overall and 2-3-1 in SBC play after falling 3-1 to the James Madison Dukes on Oct. 18.
The Eagles and Monarchs have only met twice on the pitch, with the Eagles holding a 0-1-1 record in the series. The two met last season as SBC opponents for the first time, with the Monarchs emerging victorious, 4-2.
Georgia Southern and Kentucky continue to be tied at the bottom of the conference standings with three points each. The SBC takes the top eight teams to the conference tournament, with the bottom two missing the cut. The Eagles remaining schedule is against three of the bottom-seeded teams in the conference, with Old Dominion (6 seed, 7 pts), James Madison (7 seed, 6 pts), and Kentucky (T9 seed, 3 pts).Â
