ULM Deals Men’s Basketball 72-59 Loss

STATESBORO – Tyreke Locure tallied 19 points, six rebounds and six assists, and ULM shot 62 percent in from the field in the second half to earn a 72-59 Sun Belt men's basketball win over Georgia Southern Thursday night in Hanner Fieldhouse.

Eagles of the Game
Kaden Archie led the Eagles with 15 points on 6 of 9 shooting, including 3 of 5 from long distance, and Johnny McFatten tipped in all three of his offensive rebounds for six points.

Key Moments 
After leading 35-25 at halftime, ULM outscored Georgia Southern 11-3 over the first 4:18 of the second stanza, and a Langston Powell triple extended the margin to 46-28. The lead never dipped below 14 the rest of the contest.

ULM (9-11, 5-2) used a 12-1 run, sparked by consecutive triples by Locure, to open an 18-9 cushion midway through the first half. The Eagles (11-9, 4-3) scored seven straight points to trim the margin to 25-21, but  Jamari Blackmon and Powell answered with back to back 3-pointers and ULM would go on to lead by 10 at the break.

Stats and Notes
- ULM shot 48 percent for the game while holding the Eagles to 38 percent, including 29 percent in the first half.
- ULM shot 11 of 20 from 3-point range (55 percent).
- The Warhawks broke a five-game losing skid against the Eagles and notched their first win in Hanner since 2018.
- The Warhawks outrebounded the Eagles 40-34.
- The Eagles had seven turnovers in the game, marking the eighth time GS has had single-digit turnovers in a game this season.
