STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern men's soccer team begin conference play against Old Dominion on Saturday, September 17 at Eagle Field. Kick-off is set for 7 PM.
Georgia Southern enters the match at 1-4 after picking up its first win of the season against North Florida last Tuesday.
Alex Smith pushed the game-winning goal through the net to solidify the 1-0 win for the Eagles. ODU comes to Statesboro with a 2-2-1 record after settling for a 0-0 tie with William & Mary on Tuesday.
This is the second time ever that GS and ODU will match up. The two squads met in Norfolk, Virginia, during the 2018 season and ended the match in a 2-2 tie. In that match, the Eagles rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the final 20 minutes to take the tie in overtime.
The Sun Belt Conference is made up of nine members this season, including six full-time members (Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, James Madison, Marshall, and Old Dominion) as well as three affiliate members (Kentucky, South Carolina, and West Virginia).
