Eagles host five non-conference games at Hanner before opening Sun Belt play on Dec. 29
STATESBORO - Georgia Southern head women's basketball coach Anita Howard has announced the Eagles' non-conference schedule for 2022-23. The Eagles will play nine non-conference contests leading up to Sun Belt play beginning in late December.
The Eagles will open up the 2022-23 regular season against Allen University on Monday, November 7, at Hanner Fieldhouse. Georgia Southern will then travel to Charleston Southern on Sunday, November 13, with a 1 PM contest against the Buccaneers.
The Eagles will play two more road contests, at Gardner-Webb on Saturday, November 19, and at Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday, November 22, before returning to Hanner on Sunday, November 27, hosting Life at 2 PM. Georgia Southern will then close out November with a home game against Agnes Scott on Wednesday, November 30.
Georgia Southern will again host a Kids Field Trip Day game, this time welcoming in Chicago State for an 11 AM tilt on Friday, December 9. The Eagles will travel to Detroit Mercy on Sunday, December 11, before wrapping up their non-conference schedule with a 6 PM game against the College of Charleston on Friday, December 16, at Hanner.
Sun Belt Conference play begins on December 29 against Texas State as a part of a doubleheader with the men's team.
"We are super excited to go into year four with a strong roster, and that begins with our non-conference schedule," Coach Howard said. "We have a lot of road games in the non-conference portion, which will help prepare us for Pensacola and the Sun Belt Conference tournament. I think last year, we did a great job of taking care of Hanner Fieldhouse, going 12-3 at home. Now we have to learn how to be a competitive team on the road, and these games will help us with that. I'm really excited about the four new teams joining the Sun Belt, making us a much stronger league. It forces us to prepare a little differently with so many unknowns, but we are going to stick to what we know best - rebound, defend and run. All of our fans are going to be excited about the new additions to Eagle Nation and we are looking to make everyone proud to be an Eagle this season!"
Season tickets for all 14 home basketball games at Hanner for the Eagles are just $50 and can be purchased by calling the GS ticket office at 1-800-GSU-WINS or by visiting gseagles.com/tickets.
