DAHLONEGA, Ga. - The Georgia Southern men's soccer team finished out its four-match exhibition slate with a win in the early game, 3-1, on Friday, August 19, against Truett McConnell. The late match against North Georgia was suspended due to lightning in the area.
Georgia Southern picked up an exhibition win against the NAIA's Turett McConnell, who is ranked No. 19 in the NAIA preseason poll, 3-1. Afterwards, the team travelled to Dahlonega to compete against UNG, who is ranked No. 5 in the Division II preseason poll. The match was started, but could not finish due to lightning in the area. The Nighthawks led the Eagles 2-1 before the match was suspended.
The Eagles will begin the regular season campaign with two matches on the road against Big South competition. On Thursday, the Eagles will open the season against Presbyterian, and then on Sunday, the Eagles will match-up against UNC Asheville. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+. Georgia Southern's first home match is against Charlotte on Sunday, September 4.
