STATESBORO - Georgia Southern Director of Athletics Jared Benko announced Friday the addition of Middle Tennessee to the 2031 and 2032 non-conference slates as the two schools have signed to play a home-and-home series. The Eagles will host the Blue Raiders on Sept. 20, 2031 at Allen E. Paulson Stadium and will play in Murfreesboro at Johnny "Red" Floyd Stadium on Sept. 25, 2032.
Georgia Southern and MT have met 11 previous times in football, but haven't met since a 1995 game played in Atlanta's Georgia Dome. The two schools also met twice in the NCAA Division I-AA Playoffs and played in the memorable Hugo Bowl in 1989, all won by the Eagles. Georgia Southern leads the series 7-4 overall (4-1 at home, 2-3 on the road and 1-0 at a neutral site).
This contracted game is the second announced non-conference game for 2031 as a road game at Army West Point on Nov. 8 was announced last year. This is the first announced non-conference game for the 2032 season.
