STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern football team will look to build off the momentum it gained last week when it travels to Jonesboro to take on Arkansas State Saturday in Sun Belt action. Kickoff from Centennial Bank Stadium is set for 6:02 (local) p.m. and it will be carried on ESPN+. The game will also be available via radio on the Georgia Southern Sports Network. - Georgia Southern and Arkansas State have played six times with each team having won three times. The two last met in 2021 with the Eagles rolling to a 59-23 win in Statesboro. The last meeting in Jonesboro came in 2019 when the Red Wolves scored 35 first-half points and held on in the second half for a 38-33 victory over the Eagles behind four touchdown passes from Layne Hatcher.
- The Eagles defeated the Red Wolves in 1986 in the first meeting between the two teams, the Division I-AA Championship Game. In that game, quarterback Tracy Ham rushed for 180 yards and three touchdowns and completed 12-of-21 passes for 306 yards and another score.
- Georgia Southern offensive coordinator Ryan Aplin was twice named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year as the quarterback for Arkansas State in 2011 and 2012 when the Red Wolves won back-to-back league titles. The three-time first-team all-conference player was also MVP of the 2013 GoDaddy Bowl. The former quarterback still holds the school records for career total offense (12,514 yards), completions (906) and passing yards (10,758).
