MIDWEEK PREVIEW: Eagles Fly North to Face Georgia Tech

Georgia Southern looks to sweep Georgia Tech for the first time since 1973

STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern baseball team will travel to the state's capital for a midweek game against Georgia Tech on Wednesday, May 11. First pitch from Russ Chandler Park is set for 6 p.m.

The Eagles and the Yellow Jackets faced off earlier this season, a 10-6 victory for the Eagles in Statesboro. The win marked the first time since 2014 that Georgia Southern had beaten Georgia Tech on the diamond. Georgia Southern's last win in Atlanta came in 2013, when the Eagles defeated GT 5-4 at Russ Chandler Stadium.

Both teams come in with a top 30 RPI ranking. Georgia Southern settled at number five in the nation after sweeping Troy over the previous weekend, including a huge 24-1 win in the first game on Saturday and a 10-9 comeback win on Sunday. Georgia Tech fell to number 29 after getting swept by ACC rival Clemson.

The Eagles will rely on the arm of Hayden Harris (0-0, 7.64 ERA) in the contest, while Georgia Tech will send out John Medich (4-4, 5.14 ERA) to the mound.
