Named after North Florida golf enthusiast John Hayt, the tournament is in its 30th year of competition.
The field features eight teams ranked in the top-50 nationally and 13 ranked in the top-100, according to Golfstat. Tennessee is ranked 19th and LSU is 25th. The host Ospreys are 38th, and Georgia Southern is 45th.
The Eagles finished 13th in each of the last two times they have played in The Hayt, and their best finish was third place in 2009.
Georgia Southern has finished in the top-5 in their last four tournaments, dating back to the fall, and have won their last two events. GS followed up a win in the Colleton River Collegiate March 8 with a victory in the 42nd Schenkel Invitational, the Eagles' home tournament, March 20. Senior Mason Williams finished second, seniot Ben Carr finished third, freshman Brantley Baker tied for 12th and freshman Hogan Ingram tied for 23rd on the individual leaderboard at the Schenkel.
Currently ranked eighth nationally by Golfstat, Carr has placed in the top-8 in all seven events he has played in this season, including four top-5s and a victory at the Bank of Tennessee Collegiate. Williams is ranked 18th by Golfstat and has three top 10s in four events to his credit with a win in the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate.
Georgia Southern has used the same lineup in all three events this spring and that will continue at The Hayt. Carr makes his 37th career start in the lineup, Williams makes his 28th and Wilson Andress will make his 21st appearance in the lineup. Ingram makes his eighth start and Baker will be in the lineup for the fifth time.
The Eagles are paired with LSU, Louisville and Charlotte for the first two rounds Sunday.
Following the weekend, GS is scheduled to compete in The Stitch Intercollegiate, hosted by NC State April 8-9 at Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, North Carolina.
