STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern men's tennis team fell to the South Alabama Jaguars on Saturday at the Wallis Tennis Center, 4-2
 
The morning began with doubles matches, where Pol del Castillo and Jacob Mitchell made quick work of their opponents at the No. 3 position, winning their match by a score of 6-3. Tao Castillo and Alex Suk fell 6-4 at the No. 2 position. Alexandros Roumpis and Valentin Dun pushed their set to the brink, but fell 7-5, giving the Jaguars the early 1-0 lead.
 
In singles, del Castillo fell at the No. 1 position in two sets, 6-3, 6-1. Dun would also fall at the No. 5 position, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3, giving the Jaguars a 3-0 lead on the day. Castillo would fight hard after a short rain delay and pushed his match to a third set, where he won in the final set to give the Eagles their first point of the day, 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (7-5), 6-2. The next point came from Dimitris Paliouras, who won in three close sets 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. The Jaguars got the forth and final point of the afternoon at the No. 2 position, with Roumpis losing 6-7, 6-4, 6-1. The final match at the number 6 position was then called off, with Laurent Julia Calac trailing 4-6, 6-4, 5-2.
 
QUOTE FROM COACH BAYON: "It was a great day of college tennis, with two teams playing hard and competing extremely well. I can only be proud of the players for putting their games on the line and giving them all for the Eagles. We are getting better as a team but we need to execute better in pressure situations, in singles and doubles."
 
UP NEXT: The Eagles will host the Trojans of Troy on Sunday, March 20, for their second Sun Belt match of the season. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
