GREENSBORO, N.C. – Erin Ballard (smallbore) and
Ashley Judson (air rifle) have been named the Southern Conference Shooters of the Month, the league announced today.
Ballard, a sophomore from Reedsville, West Virginia, averaged 577 in three matches for the month of January, topping her career high three times. Her 581 on Jan. 29 was the second-highest smallbore tally in program history. She also had an aggregate of 1,168 on Jan. 29, a personal best, which is tied for fifth-highest total in program history. She helped the team set a school record with a 4,621 aggregate on Jan. 29 and took first in smallbore twice in three matches in January, and second in that third match. It's the first time in her short career that she has been honored by the conference.
Judson averaged 590 in three matches for the month of January, topping the 590 mark twice. She now has six scores of 590 or more this year, tops in the SoCon and her season average of 590.200 is currently the highest in the conference. She helped the team set a school record with a 4,621 aggregate on Jan. 29 and took first in air rifle twice in three matches in January, and second in that third match. It's the fifth time Judson has been named ther SoCon Air Rifle Shooter of the Month. The two-time SoCon Co-Air Rifle Shooter of the Year was named the SoCon Air Rifle Shooter of the Month for both November and January of last season, as well as October, November and now January of this season.
The Eagle rifle team is off this weekend, but returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 12 at home against Wofford.
