
Eagles Set Bests on Final Day of CCSA Championships

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Georgia Southern swimming & diving finished sixth in the 2022 CCSA Championship with 756.5 points, an event that wrapped up Saturday evening..
Both the morning and evening sessions saw best times by the Eagle yet again.
Amy Hornyak finished a strong conference performance with a third-place finish in the 200 breaststroke. She swam a lifetime best time of 2:13.17. Lydia Evans finished the race in 25th with a time of 2:26.15.
In the 200 backstroke finals, Emma Scruggs came in 14th with a time of 2:04.06 while Madie Banks swam a 2:09.09 to finish 25th.
Abby Wenham finished seventh in the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.43. Denise Quentin finished in 23rd with a time of 52.49.
The 1,650 freestyle saw Madie Banks finish eighth with a time of 17:35.94. Hannah Merrill finished in 18th with a lifetime best of 18:04.83. Emma Sutton swam a season best time of 18:07.70. Grace Drawdy finished 22nd in 18:15.23. Lydia Evans swam a lifetime best of 18:18.22. Austyn Woods finished in 26th with a time of 20:15.31.
The 4x100 freestyle relay team of Wenham, Sutton, Quentin, and Hornyak finished fourth in a time of 3:27.79.
Prelims saw 10 best times by the Eagles.
Hornyak swam the second-fastest 200 breaststroke time in school history finishing in fifth with a time of 2:16.51. Lydia Evans swam a college best in the same race with a time of 2:25.80.
In the 100 freestyle, Wenham swam a 51.17 college best to finish seventh. Quentin finished in 23rd with a time of 52.48. Melody Giberson swam a college best of 54.13 and finished 33rd. Melissa Cox finished 39th with a time of 55.50. Woods swam a season best time of 55.87.
Scruggs swam a season-best 200 backstroke time of 2:03.03 to finish 10th. Banks swam a college-best 2:07.58 to finish 21st. Lilly Kasra finished 29th with a time of 2:10.54.
