STATESBORO - Georgia Southern split action on Sunday to wrap up the season-opening Bash in the Boro tournament at Eagle Field.
The Eagles moved to 3-2 after taking a shutout win in game one, 4-0, over ETSU. Radford then notched a 7-1 win in the final game of the day.
Georgia Southern will host the GATA Challenge on Friday through Saturday, February 18-20, at Eagle Field in its next action. Play for the Eagles begins on Friday, February 18, hosting North Dakota State at 3 p.m.
GAME ONE: Georgia Southern 4, ETSU 0
Kastin Belogorska hurled 5 1/3 innings of four-hit shutout ball, while striking out five and the Eagles plated three runs in the fifth to claim a 4-0 win over the Bucs.
The Eagles plated a run in the first as a Jess Mazur single to left, and an error on the left fielder plated Madi Banks from second.
In the fifth inning, Banks drove in Courtney Ball with a ground out, then Faith Shirley doubled home Ashleigh Duty for another run. Shirley then stole third and scored on an overthrow to cap the frame.
Belogorska, meanwhile, entered the game in the second inning and escaped a bases-loaded jam with a lineout to first that Shirley snagged. She set down six straight, then got a double play ball in the fourth to get out of another bases loaded jam in notching her first win as an Eagle.
Janai Conklin finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Eagles offensively.
GAME TWO: Radford 7, Georgia Southern 1
Radford broke open a 1-1 game with six runs over the final two innings to pick up the 7-1 win in the final game of the Bash in the Boro.
The Highlanders took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI single by Cassi Barbato, but the Eagles equalized in the bottom of the fourth inning on Jess Mazur's solo home run to center field.
Cori McMillan put Radford back in front in the sixth inning with a two-run shot to center field. The Highlanders then put the game away in the top of the seventh, taking advantage of a pair of Eagle errors that led to four unearned runs.
Emily Spingarn (2-0) hurled three innings of two-hit shutout relief to notch the win for the Highlanders. Rylee Waldrep (1-1) took the loss for the Eagles, giving up eight hits and three runs - two earned - in 5 1/3 innings of work, walking one and striking out four.
Ashleigh Duty and Madi Banks each collected two hits apiece to lead the Eagles offensively in game two.
