STATESBORO – Essam Mostafa tallied 19 points and eight rebounds, and Coastal Carolina shot 54 percent to post a 76-72 Sun Belt men's basketball victory over Georgia Southern Thursday night in Hanner Fieldhouse.

Eagles of the Game
Elijah McCadden tallied a season-high 20 points and added eight rebounds, and Kamari Brown contributed 15 points. Andrei Savrasov chipped in 14 points.

Key Moments
Coastal Carolina (10-8, 2-4) bridged a 16-3 run over halftime, scoring the final seven points of the first period and nine of the first 12 of the second frame, to open a 40-31 cushion with 16:37 to play. Vince Cole hit a pair of triples for the Chanticleers, while Mostafa netted six points.

The margin ballooned to as many as 14 points, and the Chants led by 11 following a pair of free throws by Ebrima Dibba with 1:46 to go. The Eagles (8-8, 1-4) made it interesting inside the last minute as a triple by McCadden sparked a 12-4 run, and Brown's 3-pointer off an offensive rebound trimmed the lead to 73-70 with 24 seconds left.

GS fouled Josh Uduje, who made 1 of 2 from the stripe, and Brown had another triple try go in and out at the other end. Uduje secured the rebound, was fouled again and made both to give Coastal Carolina a 76-70 lead with 5.1 seconds left.

Stats and Notes
- The Chants held the Eagles to 37 percent shooting in the first half.
- Coastal Carolina shot 60 percent in the second frame (12-20).
