
Georgia Southern Tops West Georgia 91-85 on Saturday

CARROLLTON, Ga. – Georgia Southern men's basketball (8-5) shot nearly 48 percent from the field and placed four players in double figures to defeat West Georgia (5-5) 91-85 on Saturday night at The Coliseum.
Tyren Moore and Spudd Webb each scored 20 points to lead the Eagles, who improved to 3-3 on the road this season. Moore connected on six three-pointers, while Webb went 7-for-7 from the free throw line and added two steals.
Andres Burney scored a career-high 16 points on 8-of-9 shooting and added two blocks, while Shainen Carter chipped in 10 points for Georgia Southern. The Eagles scored 32 bench points and finished with 20 fast-break points.
Georgia Southern built a nine-point halftime lead after knocking down nine three-pointers in the opening period and forcing nine turnovers. The Eagles opened the game on an 11-0 run and never trailed.
West Georgia made multiple pushes in the second half, trimming the deficit to six with just over five minutes remaining, but Georgia Southern answered with back-to-back baskets and free throws to maintain control down the stretch.
Josh Smith led the Wolves with 24 points, while Chas Lewless added 22 points. Kenneth Chime recorded 12 points and nine rebounds, and the Wolves held a 41-31 advantage on the glass.
Georgia Southern finished 31-of-65 shooting, hit 11 three-pointers, and forced 17 turnovers, turning them into 27 points. The Eagles also scored 40 points in the paint.
