CARROLLTON, Ga. – Georgia Southern men's basketball (8-5) shot nearly 48 percent from the field and placed four players in double figures to defeat West Georgia (5-5) 91-85 on Saturday night at The Coliseum.

Tyren Moore and Spudd Webb each scored 20 points to lead the Eagles, who improved to 3-3 on the road this season. Moore connected on six three-pointers, while Webb went 7-for-7 from the free throw line and added two steals.

Andres Burney scored a career-high 16 points on 8-of-9 shooting and added two blocks, while Shainen Carter chipped in 10 points for Georgia Southern. The Eagles scored 32 bench points and finished with 20 fast-break points.

Georgia Southern built a nine-point halftime lead after knocking down nine three-pointers in the opening period and forcing nine turnovers. The Eagles opened the game on an 11-0 run and never trailed.

West Georgia made multiple pushes in the second half, trimming the deficit to six with just over five minutes remaining, but Georgia Southern answered with back-to-back baskets and free throws to maintain control down the stretch.

Josh Smith led the Wolves with 24 points, while Chas Lewless added 22 points. Kenneth Chime recorded 12 points and nine rebounds, and the Wolves held a 41-31 advantage on the glass.

Georgia Southern finished 31-of-65 shooting, hit 11 three-pointers, and forced 17 turnovers, turning them into 27 points. The Eagles also scored 40 points in the paint.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Georgia Southern opened the scoring from the jump, scoring the first 11 points of the contest, forcing West Georgia into a timeout, 11-0.
The Eagles used a second 11-0 run, sinking nine three-pointers in the first half to hold a three-point advantage at the break, 45-42.
Playing with three fouls, Spudd Webb went strong to the rim, collecting his ninth and-one of the season to push the Eagles' lead to eight points, 61-53.

Georgia Southern collected its fifth consecutive win on Saturday evening, the longest winning streak since 2019.
Redshirt senior Andres Burney tallied a career-high 16 points and added four rebounds, two blocks, and one steal.
Senior Shainen Carter added to the success of the Eagles' centers on Saturday, adding 10 points, one rebound, and one steal. The duo of Burney and Carter shot 11-of-13 from the field and recorded 26 points.
Four Eagles registered double-digit scoring efforts against West Georgia, as Tyren Moore and Spudd Webb led the charge with 20 points. Andres Burney chipped in 16 points, while Carter added 10.
Tyren Moore posted his second consecutive 20-point effort in the win, shooting 6-of-13 from the field and 6-of-11 from three-point range. The six threes made in the game were one off his career-high set two years ago.
Spudd Webb collected seven points down the stretch at the free throw line, finishing with his fourth 20-point contest of the new year. Webb added one rebound, one assist, one blocked shot, and two steals.
