• Georgia Southern opens a five-match homestand as the Eagles host the Eagle Invitational Friday and Saturday in Hanner Fieldhouse. GS will face FIU Friday night and Murray State Saturday.

• The Eagles lost a pair of matches at the Blazer Invitational last weekend, falling 3-0 to host UAB Friday night and 3-1 to Kennesaw State Saturday afternoon.

• FIU went 2-1 in the FGCU tournament last weekend and is coming off a 3-0 win over USC Upstate Saturday afternoon. The Panthers lead the all-time series against Georgia Southern, which began in 1987, 5-2, but the Eagles have won the last two by 3-0 scores. GS topped FIU 3-0 in the 2017 FGCU Hilton Garden Inn Invitational in the last meeting.

• Murray State went 1-2 at the Billiken Invitational in St. Louis last weekend and is coming off a 3-1 loss to the host Billikens Saturday night. Saturday afternoon's match will be the first volleyball meeting between Georgia Southern and Murray State.

• Hannah McGlockton ranks fourth in the Sun Belt in kills per set (3.50), and Grace Slader ranks second in aces per set (0.50) and sixth in assists (8.31).

• Robin Rosser ranks 10th in the Sun Belt in hitting percentage (.299), and Christina Walton ranks fourth in blocks (1.13).

• Madison Brown ranks seventh in career assists at Georgia Southern with 2,420.

• Mya Wilson was named second-team All-Sun Belt last season and Preseason All-Sun Belt in the league's Coaches Poll.

• Maddie Bryant has 543 career kills, 472 digs and 123 blocks in 74 matches.

• Georgia Southern closes out its non-conference schedule next weekend when the Eagles host the GATA Challenge. GS takes on Alabama State and Mercer Friday and USC Upstate Saturday. The Eagles open Sun Belt play with a road trip to the Pelican State Sept. 24-25, to face ULM and Louisiana.
