The Eagles play host to Ball State in the season opener Nov. 9.
STATESBORO – Hosting Ball State in the season opener, games at in-state opponents Georgia Tech and Mercer and a trip to New York just before Christmas highlight the non-conference men's basketball schedule, announced by head coach Brian Burg today.
The Eagles will open the campaign by hosting Ball State Nov. 9 in Hanner Fieldhouse in the fourth meeting between the schools and first since 1975.
After traveling to South Florida Nov. 13, Georgia Southern plays two contests in a multi-team event at Wofford. The Eagles face Hampton Nov. 20, and meet the Terriers, a former Southern Conference foe, Nov. 21.
The Eagles travel to Georgia Tech Nov. 26 for their first meeting against the Yellow Jackets since 1998, and travel to Morehead State, an NCAA Tournament team a season ago, Dec. 1.
Games at Mercer Dec. 11 and Campbell Dec. 15 follow the break for exams, and Georgia Southern caps the non-conference slate by traveling to the Bronx, New York, for the program's first contest against Fordham.
"Our goal in putting together our non-conference schedule is to play a mix of programs that will best prepare us for Sun Belt Conference play, and we feel like we have accomplished that goal with this schedule," said Burg. "Our guys worked really hard throughout the summer and in the preseason, and we're grateful for the opportunity to play a full schedule this season."
The Eagles open their Sun Belt slate with a trip to Arkansas to face Little Rock and Arkansas State Dec. 30 and Jan. 1. Georgia Southern's first home conference weekend is set for Jan. 6-8, when the Eagles play host to Texas State and UTA.
Season tickets are priced as low as $100, and season ticket renewals start Monday, Sept. 27. New season ticket sales will begin Monday, Oct. 11.
