The Eagles compete in their first team tournament this weekend as they travel to the Lady Paladin Invitational Sept. 24-26 at Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C. It's the Eagles' fifth appearance in the event, and first since 2019, when Georgia Southern finished 10th.
The Eagles opened the campaign with a 4-2 win over Augusta in The Match at Frederica Sept. 13. Madison Heideman, Alexandra Stevenson, Mia Kness and Sarunchana Rattanasin won matches for the Eagles.
Abby Newton makes her ninth start in the lineup for the Eagles. Stevenson, Kness, Vardas and Rattanasin will be playing in their first tournament for Georgia Southern this weekend. Stevenson and Kness are transfers in their first season with the Eagles, while Rattanasin and Vardas are freshmen playing in their first collegiate tournament.
The Eagles are paired with UNCW and Memphis for Friday's first round and will tee off the 10th hole, starting at 9 a.m.
Next up for the Eagles is the second of three consecutive events in South Carolina. GS will compete in the Edisto Island Invitational, hosted by College of Charleston at The Plantation Course at Edisto Island, Oct. 10-12.
