Eagles Fall to South Alabama on Friday

STATESBORO, Ga. – South Alabama scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning to defeat the Eagles 12-5 on Friday. The Jaguars improved to 25-13 and 12-4 in conference play, while GS falls to 25-16 and 9-7 in conference play. 
 
Hayden Harris falls to 1-2 on the season, allowing six runs on four hits in the sixth inning for the Jags. Miles Smith improved to 4-0 on the year, working six innings allowing no runs on five hits. 
 
Georgia Southern would take the lead in the bottom of the first, scoring a pair off the Noah Ledford single up the middle. South Alabama would regain the lead on a three-run home run. The Eagles would tie up the ballgame in the third, as Christian Avant doubled down the line in left to score Jaylen Paden. 
 
The blue and white would take the lead in the fourth, as Matt Anderson drove in a run on a sacrifice fly to right field. In the fifth South Alabama would regain the lead on a pair of runs to go up 5-4. The Jaguars would go on to score the next seven runs to down the Eagles on Friday.
 
First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for 2 p.m. from J.I. Clements Stadium.
