EL DORADO, Ark. – Ben Carr was one of five players to shoot par or better, and the Georgia Southern men's golf team has a two-stroke lead over ULM after the first round of the Sun Belt Championship Sunday at Mystic Creek Golf Club.
Little Rock (+10) is third, Arkansas State (+14) is fourth and Appalachian State and UTA (+17) are tied for fifth. The top four teams advance to match play Wednesday.
Carr is tied for third and one of four Eagles in the top-15.

Mason Williams are tied for sixth, and
Luke Dasher (+3) is tied for 13th.
ULM's Mickel Schmitt posted a 66 and leads the field, and Logan Pate of Little Rock carded a 71. Carr is tied with Sverrir Haraldsson of Appalachian State and Daniel Cronje of UTA.
Carr birdied 6 and 7 to shoot 35 on the front and added a birdie at 13 before making par on his final four holes. Barron birdied three of his first five holes and finished the day with three consecutive pars.
Williams eagled the par-4 sixth and added birdies at 8 and 11, and Dasher made four birdies with just one bogey to shoot 3-under on the back nine.
The Eagles lead the tournament in par-4 scoring and pars and rank third in birdies.
