CONWAY, S.C. –
Mason McWhorter's three-run home run to center field, solidified the Eagles 8-3 victory to take the series from Coastal Carolina on Saturday. Georgia Southern improved to 21-13 on the season and 9-5 in conference play, while the Chanticleers fell to 16-13 and 2-6 in conference play.

Braden Hays was called on to start the Saturday game this weekend, working six innings allowing two runs and striking out five batters, improving to 2-1 on the season.
Griffin Davis came out of the pen in the seventh to give the Eagles a clean inning, before giving way to
Hayden Harris and
Nick Jones. Jones earned his 10
th save of the season, tying the national lead for that category.Â

In the top of the second the Eagles struck first as
Parker Biederer singled to center field to score
Jarrett Brown from second. In the bottom of the fourth, Coastal Carolina would take the lead on a two-run home run. In the fifth the Eagles would regain and keep it for the remainder of the game.

The Eagles would tack on four more runs in the final four innings to secure the victory and take the series from the Chants. Georgia Southern will go for the sweep tomorrow afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
