Georgia Southern competes in its final tournament before the Sun Belt Conference Championship when the Eagles travel to the Mountaineer Invitational to compete at the Pete Dye Golf Club April 12-13. The event is usually played in the fall but was moved to the spring this season because of COVID. It's a 6-count-4 event, meaning six players will be in the lineup with the four lowest scores counting for the team total each day.

The Eagles are coming off a second-place finish at the Schenkel Invitational, their home tournament, March 21. Brett Barron tied for fourth to lead the Eagles, and Luke Dasher placed ninth as an individual. Ben Carr tied for 10th, and Jake Maples tied for 21st.

Barron and Maples are playing a fifth season after the NCAA granted an extra year of eligibility to all spring sport student-athletes because of COVID-19. Both played in the first eight tournaments of the season and are slated to be in the lineup this week along with Carr, Dasher, Mason Williams and Colin Bowles.

Barron makes his 40th career start this week and has been in the lineup in the last 21 tournaments, and Carr makes his 27th start in the lineup for the Eagles. Maples makes his 20th career start in the lineup, and Williams makes his 22nd career start. Bowles is in the lineup for the 14th time in his career, and Dasher makes his second career start.

Following the event, GS will play in the Sun Belt Championships April 25-28 at Mystic Creek Club in El Dorado, Arkansas.
