OPELIKA, Ala. – Jake Maples carded a 70 in the final round of the Auburn Tiger Invitational Tuesday at Grand National Lake Course, and the men's golf team tied for 12th in a field that featured eight teams nationally ranked in the top-25, according to Golfstat.
Host Auburn (-26) won the event by two strokes over Alabama (-24), LSU (-13) and Vanderbilt tied for fourth and South Carolina (-11) finished fifth.
Maples made birdie on three of his first five holes and shot 1-under on the front side.
Ben Carr made three birdies to post a 71, and
Avery Price had four birdies in the round to finish with a 74.
It was originally supposed to be a three-day event, but because of impending inclement weather, the teams played 36 holes Monday and got about 15 in yesterday before a lightning storm suspended play. The last three holes were finished this morning.

Quotables from Georgia Southern Coach Carter Collins
"There was a lot of solid golf this week from the entire team. I like the direction we are going; we just need to keep working on sharpening up a couple of things. Our best golf is ahead of us, and we are very close to putting it all together. It's going to be a great moment for this program when it happens. G.A.T.A.!""
