Georgia Southern will compete in the Auburn Tiger Invitational March 15-16 at Grand National Lake Course. Originally scheduled for 54 holes over three days, the teams are going to try to play 36 Monday and 18 Tuesday because of impending poor weather in the area. The event will begin tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. ET with a shotgun start. The field features eight teams ranked nationally in the top-25 by Golfstat.

The Eagles are coming off a tie for second at the Spartan Collegiate last week at Sea Island Plantation Course. Jake Maples (-5) tied for fourth with Andrew O'Leary of Notre Dame, and Brett Barron, who carded a pair of 70s in the first two rounds, tied for 18th.

Barron and Maples are playing a fifth season after the NCAA granted an extra year of eligibility to all spring sport student-athletes because of COVID-19. Both played in the first six tournaments of the season and are slated to be in the lineup this week along with Mason Williams, Ben Carr and Avery Price.

Barron makes his 38th career start this week and has been in the lineup in the last 19 tournaments, and Carr makes his 25th start in the lineup for the Eagles. Maples makes his 18th career start in the lineup, and Williams makes his 20th career start. Price will be in the lineup for the third time this season and the 12th time in his career.

The Eagles are paired with Vanderbilt and Tennessee and will tee off on holes 4 and 5.

Following the event, GS will host the 41st Schenkel Invitational, one of the premiere tournaments in college golf, March 19-21, at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro.
