TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Georgia Southern men's golf team posted a 290 in the third round, the fifth best score of the day, to move up two spots and finish seventh at the Seminole Intercollegiate Sunday at Golden Eagle Country Club.
The field featured eight top-50 teams, according to Golfstat, including No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 14 Duke and No. 17 Florida State. The host Seminoles (-26) won the event by nine strokes over Oklahoma State (-17). Oklahoma (-12) finished third, a shot ahead of Liberty (-11). The Eagles (+9) were two strokes clear of North Florida and 11 behind sixth-place South Florida.
Ignited by an eagle on the par-5, 527-yard 15th,
Ben Carr led the Eagles with a 70 and finished the tournament 3-under to tie for 11th on the individual leaderboard.
Brett Barron shot a 72, while
Mason Williams and
Jake Maples each carded a 74 to round out the Eagle counters.
Carr shot 2-under and Barron was 1-under on the back nine. Williams was 1-under, and Maples was even on the front. The Eagles made 175 pars on the week, which ranked second in the field, and finished fourth in par-3 scoring and fifth in par-5 scoring.
