Eagles Finish Sixth, Vest and Hornyak Earn CCSA Postseason Honors

LYNCHBURG, Va. - On Wednesday evening the Georgia Southern swimming and dive team concluded the CCSA Championships hosted by Liberty University. The Eagles finished in sixth in the championships with 823 points.
In the final day of competition, Emma Scruggs captured fifth place in the 200 Yard Backstroke posting a time of 2:01.21 securing a lifetime best. Annamaria Hornyak added to her medals for the week, finishing second in the 200 yard Breaststroke, posting a time of 2:13.95, nearly two seconds faster than her preliminary time. The time was deemed an NCAA B Cut time. In the 200 Yard Butterfly, Tori Rucker placed sixth with a time of 2:04.36, while Jessica Ware placed eighth.
At the conclusion of the meet the CCSA award their postseason swimmers and divers of the year, as well as coaches of the year. Diving coach Collin Vest was named Diving Coach of the Year, while freshman Annamaria Hornyak was named Freshman Swimmer of the Year.
