Women's Basketball Game At Little Rock Canceled

COVID concerns with the Trojans and new Sun Belt protocols mean the game will be treated as a no-contest

STATESBORO - Georgia Southern's upcoming Sun Belt Conference women's basketball game at Little Rock, scheduled for New Year's Day, has been canceled.

Following results of a recent COVID-19 testing and as a result of the combination of the positive tests, contact tracing and subsequent quarantining of individuals within the program, Little Rock is canceling both its Thursday game against Georgia State and the Saturday game against Georgia Southern.

The Sun Belt Conference announced an updated COVID-19 policy on Wednesday for the league with a minimum threshold of seven (7) student-athletes plus one (1) coach required to play. Since Little Rock does not meet that threshold, the new policy of games being canceled and not rescheduled has been invoked.

Georgia Southern will be opening up Sun Belt play on Thursday, hosting Arkansas State at Hanner Fieldhouse. The Eagles' next game will be on Thursday, January 6, at Coastal Carolina.
