Coastal Carolina scored four of the next five and trailed 11-9 after a kill by Ani Bozdeva, who finished with a team-high 16 kills for the Chants. On the next play, Rosser's attack was called out but reversed after a challenge, extending the margin to 12-9. GS used the momentum to score the next three, capped by consecutive kills by Rosser and Bumford to end the match.

Coastal Carolina (15-8, 9-4) won the first two sets and led the third 15-11, but Bryant's kill sparked a 7-1 Georgia Southern run as the Eagles got back in the set. With the score tied 21-21, Bryant and Bumford tallied consecutive kills, and a hitting error by the Chants gave the Eagles set point. The Chants fought off the first set point but committed a service error, and the Eagles took the set 25-22.

The Eagles led 15-9 early in the fourth, but Coastal Carolina scored seven of eight points and went on to cut the margin to 21-20. McGlockton and Rosser posted kills, and Brown served an ace as Georgia Southern scored the next three to make it set point. Brigitta Petrenko's kill for Coastal cut the margin to 24-21, but McGlockton finished off the set with a kill.

Quotables from Coach Chad Willis
"I'm really proud of our group tonight. The team did a great job of staying the course and battling all the way through. Tough couple of sets to open up, but as we settled in and picked up some momentum, the energy and effort just kept willing us to that result. I'm happy for the team for coming on the road and earning a tough win against a quality team to open up the weekend."
