ORLANDO, Fla. - Georgia Southern women's tennis fell to No. 22 UCF on Saturday afternoon, at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. The Eagles fall to 1-2 on the season, while UCF improves to 2-2.
For the first time in school history, an Eagles doubles team defeated a ranked opponent on the courts. Charlotte van diemen and Sophie Wagemaker took down Marie Mattel and Rebeka Stolmar, 6-2. The UCF team was ranked sixth in the country heading into the match.
UCF would claim the doubles point and would sweep the singles courts to defeat Georgia Southern 7-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles will now return home and host North Florida on Tuesday afternoon at the Wallis Tennis Center for their home opener. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
