Eagles Remain Undefeated at Home With Wins over KSU and USC-Upstate

Georgia Southern hosts Mercer Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.

STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern men's tennis team downed Kennesaw State and USC-Upstate over the weekend in an altered, rainy schedule to improve to 6-5 on the season and 4-0 at the Wallis Tennis Center.

The Eagles (6-5) took on the Owls (1-2) Saturday morning winning 4-1 dropping only the doubles point. Despite losing the doubles point, the No. 47 nationally ranked duo of Murphy McCullough and Santiago Suarez won their contest 6-2 over Kevin Patel and Sergio Ingles.

Despite beginning doubles play Saturday afternoon against the Spartans (0-4), the match was postponed to Sunday morning due to rain where the Eagles took care of business 7-0. In the match, Diego Finkelstein won his 70th career singles contest to tie for third-most in school history.

What head coach Sander Koning said:
"We started slow in doubles against Kennesaw State and didn't make them play enough. The team responded well in singles and really executed what we have been working on all year."
"We were able to continue the execution against USC-Upstate and this should give us confidence going forward."
