
Three-Peat! McCullough Wins Eagles' Third Straight Sun Belt Athlete of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Georgia Southern men's tennis senior Murphy McCullough was voted Sun Belt Conference Men's Athlete of the Week Wednesday after leading the Eagles to a 4-1 win over Kennesaw State and a 7-0 win over USC-Upstate this past weekend.
The Johns Creek native won both singles contests and one of his doubles matches with partner Santiago Suarez. In singles, he bested Bryan Triana (KSU) 6-3, 6-1 before defeating Leon Roider (USCU) 6-3, 6-4 from the one spot. In double, McCullough and Suarez scored a 6-2 victory over Sergio Ingles/Kevin Patel (KSU) but left their match with the Spartans unfinished. The duo rank 47th in the most recent ITA Doubles Rankings.
The honor is the third straight of the 2020 season for the Eagles after Pascal Wagemaker won it Jan. 29. and Alexandros Roumpis did the same Feb. 5.
