NEW ORLEANS - Georgia Southern sophomore
Khaleb Hood was honored by the Sun Belt Conference Monday morning, earning Special Teams Player of the week accolades. It's the second time an Eagle player has been honored this season.
Hood, from McDonough, Georgia, opened the scoring against Florida Atlantic in the second quarter when he fielded a punt and squirted straight up the middle of the field for a 49-yard touchdown run. The Eagles would go on to win the game 20-3 to improve to 7-4 on the season.
For Hood, it was his first career touchdown and the second punt return for a touchdown this season by a Georgia Southern player.
Georgia Southern will host Appalachian State Saturday night at 6 p.m. at Allen E. Paulson Stadium to wrap up the regular season.
