The sophomore led the Eagles in hitting percentage this season.
NEW ORLEANS – Georgia Southern sophomore Mya Wilson has been named second-team All-Sun Belt in a vote by the league's 12 head coaches, the conference announced today.
Wilson ranks ninth in the Sun Belt in points (3.44/s), 10th in hitting percentage (.265), 10th in blocks (0.88/s) and 12th in kills (2.88/s). She reached double-figure kills in eight matches, tallied a season-high 15 kills and hit .714 against Troy in the regular-season finale and posted a season-high seven blocks against the Trojans in the Sun Belt Tourney.
"We're all so incredibly proud of Mya for this well-deserved recognition," said Georgia Southern coach Chad Willis. "Mya has established herself as a leader for our team, and this award is a testament to the work ethic and commitment level she brings every day. Mya has been a driving force to our continued growth as a program. She cares passionately for people and understands a key component to leading is serving—her attitude, effort and actions towards others are contagious, and we couldn't be more excited for her to be represented on this year's All Sun-Belt team."
The Eagles won three of their last four matches of the season, including a 3-2 decision over Troy in the Sun Belt Tournament, the first Sun Belt Tourney win in school history.
