
Hornyak Breaks School Record Twice in Day One of Eagle Invitational in Florida

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Georgia Southern Swimming & Dive competed in the first day of the Eagle Invitational on Thursday, earning 211 points on the day. Day two of competition will continue tomorrow morning streaming on the FGCU Swimming & Diving facebook page.
Annamaria Hornyak had herself a day breaking the 200 IM school record not once, but twice in the same day. In the prelims, Hornyak posted a time of 2:03.56 which broke Are Stuart's 2017 200 IM school record of 2:03.83. Against Campbell last week, Hornyak posted a time of 2:08.05, which led the CCSA conference by three seconds.
In the finals of the 200 IM event, Hornyak once again shattered the school record, breaking it for the second time today, posting a time of 2:01.56. The time was good enough for second place in the event and broke the school record by nearly two seconds.
Melissa Cox earned points for the Eagles in the 50 Yard Freestyle, posting a time of 23.99, beating her preliminary time in the event. In the 500 Yard Freestyle, Klaudia Holt placed sixth with a time of 5:08.96, which beat her season best by nearly 13 seconds.
Katie Knight and Anya Weber both scored points for the Eagles in the 3 meter dive, with Knight tallying a score of 268.70. Weber put together a total score of 233.40 in her dives in the second group of finals. Both relay teams for the Eagles also scored points, as they took home fifth and sixth in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay.
